Introducing myself

Postby Taz666 » Fri Apr 27, 2007 1:05 am

Hi,

New to the forum, got some great info on here.

I'm probably a bit old to go stunting, but just scored a GSXR 600 that I won't cry about when I drop it. Apparently it had a nasty experience with a tree, tank first. should have it running next week if parts turn up.

I have been practising tho, LOL [/url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ek98anrjoo0 and have always wanted to do 12 O'clock wheelies, just can't get brave enough on the dresser.

I am in the ACT and regularly attend rallies around and about.

Hope to be able to come play with you guys and learn a bit more in the near future.

Cheers

Taz

Thinking the gixxer will do better stoppies than the Harley

Postby Taz666 » Sat Apr 28, 2007 12:28 pm

Have only managed to get 6 inches of air under the rear, and that was braking to avoid a very large kangaroo across teh Hay at about 170kmh.

Progress report

Now waiting on throttle cable, manifold o-rings, clutch cable and a fuel tap.

Bidding on Keasty's 12 bar on Ebay, and have a heap of conduit shaped up for crach cage templates.

Wiring has been modified to accommodate the lack of fairings and remove the need for the left hand switch block. should get a dead man's switch this weekend to replace the kill switch.

Scored 11 slicks and wets so initial expenditure on rubber should be minimal.

Considering a billet top triple tree so I can use a set of Renthal bars and allow the swap back to clip-ons for the odd tack day.

Figure the SRAD on the tail cowl stands for Stupid, Ridiciulous and Dangerous.

Next update once it is running.

Any suggestions on materials for crash cage?

Diameter and wall thickness of tubing would be handy so I don't end up with something that weighs more than the Harley.

Have a great weekend

crash cage tripple clamps

Postby keasty » Sat Apr 28, 2007 12:42 pm

hi man ill measure the stuff i used to make my cage or you can buy one from me for a couple hundred

Tripple clamps we used on my mates bike motox clamps for fat bars they have a bolt to go through standard tripples and only cost $55.00
hangers $120 done take 5 mins to drill and fit but you will have to disconect choke or make longer cable as it pulls on when higher bars fitter but everything else works fine.

hope this helps

Hi Mate, glad to see someone who rides a harley properly!!! NICE....

Anyhow welcome to the site im in the ACT too, I live over south side.

I wouldn't put the Motor bars on with out replacing the top tripple, it weakens the allow on the stock tripple when you drill, then your going to expect it to take stress from points it was never intented to be used on....

Buy a good Billet Alloy Tripple then you can ride with confidence...

I am a southsider also

Postby Taz666 » Sat May 05, 2007 12:08 pm

Hey Bender,

I am in Gilmore, we will have to catch up for a beer.

Still waiting on parts, only clutch & throttle cable, manifold O-rings and a fuel tap to go. Been waiting on Action to get back to me for just over a week now. Talk about reaching new depths with customer service.

Then the crash cage. waiting on the 12 bar turning up n the post and have partially completed my templates for the crash cage.

Bruises and scrapes should only be a matter of a couple of weeks LOL.

Cheers
