What a spectacular weekend

Postby benaylen » Sun May 04, 2008 11:36 pm

Bikesfest Sat, Stuntkills Sun, pulling into the garage Sun night with an F4i on the back of the ute. yeah!

I've already bought new fork seals for $20 delivered on eBay and I might have some other things cheap depending on how my bids go.

Matty was awesome supply just about everything I need to get it registered and no doubt he will come good with the Key for the tank (when he finds it), the rego paperwork and the big sprocket.

It was super nice of him to throw in a new chain, new ezipull lever and perch, and new clips on. What a champ!

Anyway, can't wait to get it off the ute and start working on it but that's a job for tomorrow, and every other night for the next 3 months :)

Cheers
Ben

yeah I'll post up some pics shortly.

I unloaded it this morning and it's sitting in the middle of the garage. Looks like I won't be parking my ute undercover for a while. Damn that sucks on frosty mornings (an everyday event in Canberra).

First few jobs will be:
remove engine for rings and timing chain
remove front forks for new seals and fork oil
remove cage and fit fairings for rego including headlight, dash, indicators, etc, then it's off to RTA.

I want to ride it to work everyday for a while to get use to it and just to enjoy having a roadie again. Then I'll probably set it up for stunting again at some stage after I
a) grow some nutz and learn how to wheelie a roadie
b) get some good safety gear so I don't 'totally' axe myself.

First up, thanks to Corey for organising it, it was a great day.

Finally got to ride Project Gixxer on a sealed surface. Bloody ordinary I know, but I had a ball. Am paying for it today in spades, everything hurts. Bruce, our tag along cameraman got some good footage, I will get it burnt to DVD and he can distribute it.

Started the day by blowing a fork seal clean out of the fork, but a bit of bush engineering soon had it right. Even managed to get the stand up wheelie thing happening. Know now just how much practise I do need LOL. Made it through the day without crashing which made it all the better. I will work out how far I can go eventually.

Special thanks to those who helped me out with advice, bead breaker and water.

My vote for most improved was little miss persistence on the Honda (sorry, don't remeber the name), but from the footage we have, I think that there is also an award for the most runs down the strip as well. Bloody well done. From a shaky start to impressive in just seven hours.

Might have to think about a fitness regime (OK thought about it, it's not happening)

When's the next one??? Can we do it next week? the week after?

If you haven't been then get your arse along, this is great for riders at any level (even us old dinosaurs).
If you can't race it or take it to bed it ain't worth having
