Why I ride these fabulous 2 wheeled machines and the mates I’ve made.
1. Wheelies. Enough said. Postie bikes, road bikes, mini motos,
anything — it don’t matter! Tin Tops just don’t do wheelie no matter how hard you try!!
2. The people you meet. Blasting along some road and you meet others doing the same. Pull up at the lights/Cotter/Café/Pub and it’s like a bunch of old mates who you’ve known forever. Sometimes you’re lucky and one of the friends is of the female variety – and you end up marrying them! If you crash and burn your mates will stop, call the ambo’s and generally help out. If you’re in a Tin Top and have an accident you’re lucky if you don’t get cleaned up by 10 other cars rubber necking.
Mates that will take a busted rear brake lever 100kms round trip to get welded so you can go to that track day....
3. Scenic Spots you can only get to by bike OR being able to get from Canberra to the coast in 50mins. Nothing like pulling the trailie up to the edge of a coastal cliff. Or pulling a monster wheelie over the crest of the hill with the Brindabella’s in full view.
4. The feeling you get when you see someone do something you can’t
That same feeling once you start learning the new trick/skill.
And again once you nail it spot on everytime.
And then once more when you see your buddies learning the same thing.
5. Tight riding. Small race tracks or tight single trails. Road or dirt. Bangin bars with someone, you being able to reach their killswitch whilst riding next to ya best mate. Figure 8s. Coming into the corner 4 wide…..
Anyone one else?
