CBR 250 RR + rebuild

Postby 3xion » Sat Aug 13, 2005 4:04 pm

Well I have finally got some tools and taken her apart

I am looking for ideas atm so that I can get things organized b4 I put it back together?

Like

If I was to put 12/crash bars on it when would I need to have them?
Does anyone where I would find head lights mounts and a range of lights to suit?
Forks should I straiten them out (I have herd this can be done if not too bent) or should I just buy new ones/second hand?
I don’t want to put on my front fairings and as smaller nose faring as I can, back fairings I believe can be fixed with some fibreglass
I think the wiring of the lights and such will be hard, is this something a n00b should attempt or should I leave it to the people out there that specialise in this?

Any ideas would be a great help as now it is apart I don’t know where to start.

Plus if you ever want to play with a 250rr your always welcome

many thanks in advance :)

Here's my 2Cents...althought I do wonder.

If I was to put 12/crash bars on it when would I need to have them?

What do you mean when would you need them? I guess that all depends on when you plan on having a crash or parking a 12, If you're serious about stunting your 250 (You're probably going to have to make them ur self). I be puttin them on before I ride the bike....

Bike Shop, Internet...www.acerbis.com, www.gobike.com, www.motofx.com.color]

Forks should I straiten them out (I have herd this can be done if not too bent) or should I just buy new ones/second hand?

[color=cyan]I wouldn't get them straightened as they are never as strong again, wreckers shouldn't be too hard to find or yeah you could buy new inner, but after you do that then pay to have it fitted you could have just bought working straight ones from the wreckers.

Do you know anything about fibreglassing? if not then I'd just get some one else to do it.

as for the wireing, take some notes about what cable go in where before you start, when you put a new front end on or different headlight you only need to go to the headlight cable and re wire it to your new headlight(s).

Good luck
